Decibells was formed in 1997. We called ourselves "Decibells" as our original team consisted of ten ringers and the conductor. Since then our numbers have varied.

We started with 13 bells, tuned to Eb Major, on loan to us from Saint Michael's Church Reepham. Since then the group have purchase more bells so we now have 2 ½ octaves. This enables us to play a greater variety and more challenging music.

Since our formation we have performed to WI groups, Church meetings, Services, and Residential homes. We have also performed at the annual Cromer festival, the Dereham Special Christmas Train, The Woodlands Burial Christmas Event and regularly appear at the Oxburgh Hall Christmas Event.

Over the years we have progressed from number notation to musical notation. Handbell ringing is not difficult to master but does require a great deal of concentration. By progressing to musical notation, we have been able to play all kinds of music including, Classics, Folk, Popular, Dances and Christmas carols. We have also had music specially arranged for us to play to increase our repetoire including Christmas Carols like "Silent Night".

Decibells meet in The Bircham Centre in Reepham on Thursday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm. New members are always welcome. Come along and meet us!
